    Abstract
One of the great concerns of members of a parish community today is the care and nurturing of the sick and elderly. They are counted as members of the parish family and yet for various reasons are unable to participate in parish activities. In answer to this pastoral need many very ordinary people have ventured into the realm of parish ministry to offer compassion and care to those who are impoverished whether physically or spiritually. This proffering of service is not a one way street. The sick and elderly have their own gifts to offer. Ordinary, every day people become the channels of God's grace to each other.
