    Abstract
Pastoral Theology is practical theology. It involves reflection upon concrete reality, i.e., actual situation of the Church. Pastoral theology is faith seeking understanding which leads to action. At the present time the Sisters of Providence have a need to develop a tertianship program for the Sisters of Providence which reflects the policy adopted by the Congregation in 1991, the needs of the tertians and the needs of the Congregation and Church. The program needs to integrate an emerging theology of Providence, the history and tradition of the Sisters of Providence, and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. The program must be flexible yet provide guidance for the tertians and the director as they design the components for any one year.
