Abstract
This project was born out of my participation in the Ministry Formation program in the Diocese of Rockford, IL. This is a two-year program that provides a basic formation experience fostering adult faith and the skills needed for effective lay leadership in the parish. Successful completion of the program results in lay minister certification and commissioning by the Bishop of the diocese. Founded in 1987, the Ministry Formation program has certified 674 Lay Ministers. After certification other opportunities for ongoing growth and development were not offered through the Ministry Formation program, nor had the Ministry Formation program office or diocese contacted the Certified Lay Ministers (CLM) to see how they are doing. The concern now is whether or not current education, development and spiritual needs are being met.
