Abstract
Many Christians struggle with an Earth-centered
spirituality (ecospirituality), a spirituality that places humans
within the context of creation and not at its apex. As a modern
culture we have lost the understanding of our relationship to the
rest of creation, an understanding that was common to all just a
few short centuries ago.
Our Catholic Christian faith provides a rich heritage of
Earth-spirituality. It is imperative that Catholic women
religious take the leadership role of teaching and modeling a
responsible and sustainable relationship with Earth. By virtue
of their founding and their ancient history, there is a
particular imperative for Dominican women to take up this role.
