Abstract
This research study explores the relationship and dynamics between the music therapy profession and the neurodiversity movement. A phenomenological study was used; seven participants were interviewed who have experience in both the field of music therapy and the neurodiversity movement. From the interview data, codes were formed and categorized into themes and sub-themes. The major themes that emerged were NeurodivergentExperiences, Culture, Models and Perspectives, Music Therapy Practices, Personal Phenomena, and Future Actions. The conclusion from the data is that the music therapy profession needs more education and needs to listen to neurodivergentvoices moving forward in order to develop a healthy allyship with the neurodivergentcommunity.
